Leucrocotta

the leucrocotta is a fantastical beast of the ethiopian and indian folcklore that is suposed to be a hyena like creature able to imitate human voice. i wanted it to look like a mix between a hyena a warthog and a tasmanian devil.

the leucrocotta is an arabian and ethiopian predator realted to the extinct european hyena. they are about the size of a jaguar and weight up to 100 kg. they have huge heads, powerful jaw muscles, and well-developed forequarters. they are usually scavengers that steal food from other predators; they specially enjoy human flesh, and being able to imitate human voices they sneak into villages calling people by its name and devouring them as they come out of their houses. males are bigger than females with wider heads and thicker and darker manes. actually they are nearly extinct because of habitat destruction.
